Macros, and why you should love them for switching jobs.....

So, FFXIV - switching jobs on fly, AWESOME - however they've left one downside to this awesome sauce...making your action bars stick with the job you're currently on. How do we remedy this you ask? Simple...we macro it.

So I'm a Thaumaturge, a Conjurer, a Pugilist and a Fisher. While I'm adventuring/"beta testing", I constantly need to swap between these four and going through the menu is just tedious, so let's make a sample macro to show just how easily this can be done!

Example 1 -

Ok, so you see from this example I'll be switching to my Thurmaturge...but Xii - Thurm's dont have Fire! You're absolutely RIGHT, you can equip any ability as long as you have the affinity for it with MACROS! OMG THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!! Blah, back to the point

Now, for your old school FFXI'ers you'll notice, there's not /wait in there ANYWHERE, that's because SE has finally gotten smart and added self check coding with the macros....when it goes off, it feels slower, but can't be any worse than a man-made /wait timer.

So, what happens here - I equip my Weathered Scepter into my main hand (Shadow Darts is a DEFAULT spell and will always equip to 1, so unless you're overwriting that, no need to put it in or anything in slot 1) and proceed to equip my Banish spell to action 2, Fire to action 3, Sacrifice to action 4 and so on and so forth.

Example 2 -

Same basic principles, but you see I've added an offhand item AND a pack item, how the specific slots will label out in the macro side, I'm not sure - If you notice instead of  "Off Hand" it's actually just "Sub" if any other slots have been affected like this, I'm not sure.

But for now, experiment and enjoy!!
